Hello dear players! I am so excited to be back in the world of Regency and especially amongst canons from P&P! I would be immensely happy if I could have a thread with you all!
Hello dear players! I am so excited to be back in the world of Regency and especially amongst canons from P&P! I would be immensely happy if I could have a thread with you all!
Charlotte Delaford
An aristocratic young woman in the throes of discovering what life is all about and living it to the full.
Charlotte is disdainful(*cough*frightenedtodeath*cough*) of marriage for the sake of it, thanks to her sister’s marriage for position, and is fighting it every step of the way. She’s feisty, irreverent and inclined to say exactly what’s on her mind. It isn’t always helpful. She loves to observe the ongoings of society and is inclined to be overly involved in others’ lives.
Family
Mr Delaford
Mr Delaford loves his children intensely and tends to be indulgent of Charlotte’s misadventures. Of late, he has taken after his wife’s lead when it comes to his eldest remaining daughter, worried that Charlotte might push society too far.
Mrs Delaford
Mrs Delaford is a cool customer, being old money and knowing full well how to play the game, she is terribly aware of just how important connection and wealth are in this cutthroat societal world. She worries daily for her daughters, especially Charlotte, wanting them to settle well, knowing how hard life alone can be. She will be taken a rather hard line on Charlotte very soon, trying desperately to reign her in and make her see sense before it is too late.
Miss Imogen Delaford
Charlotte is very close to her sister, though their ideas about things often differ of late. She very much wants to see Imogen free of the expectations of a convenient marriage, while her sister seems very much less inclined to be ‘liberated’, often day-dreaming of the many handsome officers who might imprison her. Charlotte is often interfering, which can be inconvenient.
Mr James Delaford
Charlotte’s brother is a very dear man who is struggling between the two wings of his household; understanding his mother’s want for Charlotte to be married and sympathetic to his sister’s wish to be free of the pressure. He struggles between his want to do his duty as the heir to his father’s estate and his love of his sister.
Mrs Maria Lockwood
Charlotte's elder sister has been married since Charlotte was sixteen to the most detestable man ever imagined! (To Charlotte's mind anyway.) The relationship between the sisters has cooled because of it.
Mr Daniel Lockwood
Charlotte's brother-in-law is an awful man – having married Maria mostly because he felt she was fitting to his station - and totally disagreeable. Charlotte detests him and his marriage of position with every fibre of her being.
Friends
Miss Felicity Cadwallader
Charlotte has not yet actually met Miss Cadwallader, but she is certain they shall be fast friends. (Even if it is merely so that they may gang up on Miss Cadwallader’s guardian, Mr Nicholas Goulding.)
Mr Nicholas Goulding
To call Mr Goulding a friend is rather a misstatement of the facts, since Charlotte seeks out his company mostly to make herself disagreeable to him. Caught in a game of severe one-upmanship, however, the pair spend a remarkable amount of time in each other’s presence.
Beaus
Mr Nicholas Goulding:
James rather thinks that the ongoing back-and-forth between his sister and Mr Goulding has less to do with being sure to frustrate the other no end and more to with and entirely different instinct.

James Delaford
James Delaford is the heir to Mr Delaford Snr and Hadleigh Court. This of course, is his official title though he has readily come to accept that he serves somewhat as social buffer for his outspoken sister. Though not quite so progressive as she, James is incredibly social and shows a vibrant passion for life. He is consistently torn between the responsibilities of his station and title and the sheer wonder he has for the world, investing himself in many endeavours that his father has not thought to be the wisest.
Family
Mr Delaford
Mr Delaford has high hopes for his son and James has felt the weighty burden of expectancy, though this is sometimes more owing to James’s own conscience than his father’s iron rod. He wants in every way to live up to the reputation his father’s estate commands.
Mrs Delaford
James loves his mother dearly and shares many of her concerns regarding some of Charlotte’s more renegade behaviour. Of course, he often also serves to remind her of her daughter’s better qualities. In fact, James some times plays quite the mediator.
Miss Imogen Delaford
James loves his younger sister and is quite protective of her. Of course, this means nothing when it comes to his incessant need to poke fun at her, or continually direct her growing paranoia regarding all things supernatural.
Miss Charlotte Delaford
Charlotte is both the bane and wonder of James’s existence, her ability to find herself on the wrong side of some social norm almost uncanny. James is especially protective of her and will do anything to keep her out of trouble. Of course, there is a propensity for him to side with her often and this defense mechanism might be seen somewhat as the younger Delaford commanding a particular hold over her brother.
Mrs Maria Lockwood
James cares a great deal for his elder sister, though their relationship has none of the warmth of those he shares with the younger, and he is often the one to attempt to bring the warring factions closer together.
Mr Daniel Lockwood
While James has similar leanings regarding Mr Lockwood as Charlotte’s, he is much more diplomatic and respectful.
Friends
Mr Nicholas Goulding
Having schooled with Mr Goulding at Winchester College, James has consistently kept his company, contrary to what the man has generally experienced from the rest of the neighbourhood and finds him to be a very admirable man underneath his ongoing war with the world.
Miss Felicity Cadwallader:
James is determined to make Miss Cadwallader feel right at home in Hertfordshire, since he has no end of apology for the girl’s circumstance and a great appreciation of her bright and encouraging temperament.

Caroline Bingley
Ah, Miss Bingley. We all know her, we all love to hate her, but underneath that nasty exterior is a very insecure young woman desperately trying to settle her future and make her way through the world. A way she sees as marked out by the way of her family, so she is very invested in brother’s life and advancement as well. She has all the wrong ideas about what people value in others and she’s slowly but surely ruining her chances of true happiness by it. She is false, judgmental and undoubtedly conniving, but hey, she was there first.
Family
Charles Bingley:
Caroline loves her brother dearly. In fact there are no lengths to which she will not go to ensure his happiness. Of course, as his elder sister - and the horrible perfectionist she is - she has a great many ideas about what his happiness will entail. Caroline wants, above all, for Charles to advance and she she will have no qualms about properly approving his choice of spouse.
Mrs Louisa Hurst
Caroline and her sister Louisa are thick as thieves and can be nearly as awful. Drawn by a slight desperation into the busy world of improving themselves and the position of their family – mostly to hide where it is they have come from – these two are ruthless in going after what they view as rightfully theirs, particularly the acknowledgement of everyone else.
Mr -- Hurst
Caroline’s feeliongs towards Mr Hurst are largely ambivalent – and one might argue equal to her sister’s in this regard – she is grateful for the connection that Louisa’s alliance brings, but finds the gentleman himself largely unspectacular.
Friends
Miss Georgiana Darcy:
Caroline adores Georgiana Darcy, and sometimes it is on the girl’s own merits! While she views dear, sweet Georgiana as a superior, to be praised at every turn and followed in her example, this instinct cannot be separated from Georgiana’s family connections.
Beaus
Mr Fitzwilliam Darcy:
Whatever the speculation on their relationship - the word ladder-climber has been rather unceremoniously used – Caroline is hopelessly in love with Fitzwilliam Darcy. She has sought, after her own fashion, to please him in every regard and fights daily to commend herself to him in a way that will prompt him to turn his proud glance her way on a more permanent footing. Having been repeatedly unsuccessful in this endeavour, she is in no way sure of him, making her incredibly protective of the relationship and inclined toward jealousy, pettiness and grasping nastiness. That he does not return her affection is something a little too painful and humiliating to admit.

004. Conscientious Objection
An intolerable faux pas on the part of Mr Lockwood leads Charlotte to make and intolerable faux pas of her very own when she unexpectedly crosses paths with Mr Goulding.
003. Artful Aspirations
Charlotte invites Miss Jane Bennet to tea at Hadleigh in hope of acquiring a little of her experience in sketching. Not to mention all that she can elicit from the shy girl on the subject of the newly arrived Mr Bingley.
002. The Assembly
It is so good to be out amongst society, there is so much to see and a few faces in the crowd to warm a heart.
001. A Keen Eye for Disaster
Who’s to say that officers are all to be completely avoided? Just because they are not to be married does not mean they are not excellent company. Charlotte is forced to reevaluate her general decree over officers as a ‘nuisance’ to the neighbourhood when a Mr Wickham crosses her path.

001. Oft Expectation Fails, And Most Oft There
Anxious to observe the arrival of Mr. Bingley – though not at all for the same reasons as everyone else, as she has informed James… repeatedly - Charlotte has appeared at the Meryton assembly, only to be practically accosted by Mr Goulding.

001. A Merry, Merry Morning
James has dropped in to see his close friend, Mr Goulding, but more importantly, to lay claim to an acquaintance with the brand new addition to his household! Of course, such happy occasions are never what they are expected to be with Mr Goulding.

005. First Impressions
It is unbelievable the lengths some women will go to to secure a gentleman's admiration.
004. Of Horror and Fine Eyes
While the evening may have been an utter waste of valuable time, there is certainly joy to be had in discussing it.
003. Exercise Discretion
Caroline is introduced to one of the local gentlemen. Apparently. She is certain Mr Nicholas Goulding must be a fabrication.
002. The Assembly
An abominable evening, to be sure.
001. The Best Laid Plans
It is terribly inconvenient when an evening that should be to one's advantage is so thoroughly derailed.
