So first off let start by saying that I am a GINORMOUS Jane Bennet and Charles Bingley fan. I think they are adorable, cute, and all other sorts of wonderful things. I would love for whomever took Charles to be in agreement that eventually Jane and he should end up together. That being said I am not at all opposed to drama of all sorts being wreaked upon Jane and Mr. Bingley and cause their happy ending to be delayed for quite a bit.
So anyone whose read the book/seen the films know that Charles is a young man of considerable wealth and fortune whom obviously is meant for Jane Bennet. ( Especially according to Jane's dear mama.) He is gentle and kind with happy manners that make him a favorite among Meryton society. History and such is completely up to you and I would love, love, LOVE, the person who took him for ever and ever.

Since I mentioned earlier that I am forever the fan of drama I thought it might be fun to have a figure from Jane's past come back into town. When Jane was a young lady, no more than Lydia's age she was courted quite profusely by a man who swore he was most ardently in love with her and she fancied she was in love with him. Now an adult she can claim no such affections and claims it was merely the folly of youth.
Now there is room for all sorts of drama with Mr. Bingley and our unknown man here to cause trouble for Jane. He could have left to find his fortune and now has come back to win Jane's affections. Or could merely see that Jane has become quite taken with Mr. Bingley and is merely jealous. I'm up for either. I imagine when Mr. Bingley leaves Netherfield hall he would be in prime position to win Jane's heart once more.
Personality, history is pretty much up to you as Jane would be quite pained to see him again. I also would leave play-by up to you. I would suggest that perhaps he be a bit darker since Jane and Charles are so fair in complexion and features so that there is a contrast?
